BERNIE'S INSIDERS HISTORICAL FEATURES

BROWNS: THE FIRST GENERATION
The Cleveland Browns have a tradition that is rivaled by no other team in sports.  This past spans six decades, and includes over 400 wins, 20 Hall of Fame inductees, and 7 championships.  As impressive as these numbers sound, they fail to tell the whole story.
My name is Frank D. Mann, and I am the designer of The History of the Cleveland Browns, a site totally dedicated to Browns History. I, along with my fellow Insider crew members and you, the fans, will attempt to pick up where the numbers leave off.
Here at Bernie's Insiders, we pride ourselves in being a fan-built organization.  That's why we want you, the fan, to have a hand in determining not only what was historically important, but also what has shaped this organization into what it is today. By doing this, we may then hope to have an accurate depiction of what this franchise really is, and why we have passed this tradition down for generations.
Please allow the dust to settle while we add new features.  In the mean time, you can still find all of your favorite BI history features below, and you can email the history department with all of your questions and comments at history@brownstng.com. (FDM)

Articles by Bob Moon
As a lifelong fan, I understand, appreciate and enjoy the great history and heritage of Cleveland Browns football. My goal in producing The Cleveland Browns, The Great Tradition, was to create the most complete, most comprehensive Browns history book ever published. It's the type of book I would buy if looking for a Browns book myself. That's why I'm happy to offer it to fellow Browns fans through what was formerly BrownsTNG, now Bernie's Insiders. This book is packed with information and classic photos you won't find anywhere else. - Bob Moon

legendsbythelake.gif (16520 bytes)BTNG is proud to present this exclusive excerpt from Legends by the Lake: The Cleveland Browns at Municipal Stadium (University of Akron Press). The book recalls 15 of the Browns' most memorable games at their old home, based on interviews with nearly 40 ex-players, and profiles dozens of  former Cleveland greats. The author, John Keim, is a 33-year-old Lakewood, Ohio native who sat in the Dawg Pound long before it was fashionable. He calls this 1987 win over the Jets his most memorable. One of the first things he did upon moving to Washington, D.C. in 1989 was join the Browns Backers.
